I lived in Holme On Spalding Moor from 1985 to 2014 and lived in Market Weighton between 1980 and 1985. I now live in the ground floor of the servant’s quarters of a country mansion near Howden. I have an eclectic CV – serving my time at the Civil Engineering College, I worked for a JCB dealership for 14 years before turning my hand to spare part sales for a Land Rover Dealer, followed by spray-painting agricultural implements. Deciding I had enough of getting dirty for a living, I taught IT training courses for a subsidiary of Lincoln University and have managed a training programme for five training centres in the north of England – Leeds, Sheffield, Carlisle, Manchester and Newcastle. I was the Parts Manager for an agricultural machinery dealership based near Snaith for a couple of years, before taking a “Gap Year” from March 2016. Since February 2017 I have worked for a Selby-based adult education distance learning provider, carrying out course enrolment sessions nationally.
I joined Vixen 87 in January 2005, initially to re-write the website. In May 2005 I was dragged in to co-present the Sunday Morning show, hosted by Gary “Gunner Sugden” Newbould, before being trained and offered my own shows on the subsequent RSLs, where I presented the Late Night Extra shows on Mondays and Wednesdays 9pm – Midnight, as well as keeping up the Sunday morning co-host slot.
With the advent of Vixen 101, I became Director of IT for the parent company, Vixen Broadcasting Ltd. I present The Fox’s Den, Fridays 9pm – midnight; a show in which features local and unsigned/independent musicians and bands, both recorded and live in the studio, and also give you the run down on up and coming gigs in the area.
I also present The Sunday Lunch Themed Show 12 – 2pm on alternate Sundays, in which every song played on a show is linked to a theme. Listeners are encouraged to suggest songs on the theme, with the more obscure and tenuous songs getting the best chance of being played.
Away from working in the day job and Vixen 101 I am the finest Tea Chest Bass player in the West of the Wolds and I play in Hull-based band The Off The Road Psychedelic Super Skiffle Band. I have recently turned my hand to song-writing, and have had two of my songs recorded by a local musician.
