Vixen 101 Heads to Goole Hobbies Event

East Yorkshire community radio station Vixen 101 will be making its debut at the Goole Hobbies Fair this weekend as the broadcaster seeks new volunteers.
Vixen 101, which has been broadcasting from studios in Market Weighton own Centre across the Western Wolds for three years, is staffed entirely by volunteers who present programmes, research stories and interviews, fund-raise, promote the station and help organise events.
The station, which can be heard on 101.8FM and online at vixen101.co.uk, will also be providing live coverage of the event at Goole Leisure Centre.
Station Director and Saturday Breakfast Show host, Julian Watson, says: “Many of the members of Vixen 101 came from Radio Medica so we know there is an excellent pedigree of broadcast talent in the Goole area. Running a full-time radio station is time-consuming, but we’re very proud of our achievements at Vixen 101. It’s a small but ambitious radio station which has broadcast programmes from around East Yorkshire, broken a world record for a 53-hour broadcasting marathon,  and has become an integral part of local life. We do need some new blood, though, to help deliver the great work.”

Coverage, with Julian and fellow presenter Tony Barker, will be broadcast from 10am until 2pm with the station’s Saturday Theatre slot also coming from the Hobbies Fair.

Vixen 101’s team brings news, sport, events, theatre and arts, specialist shows including soul and hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s every week. For details of Vixen 101, visit vixen101.co.uk, email studio@vixen101.co.uk or call 01430 875830.
