Darren Duckworth is on Breakfast this week, 8-11, followed by Tony Barker and guests, 11-1.

Tony will be joined by three students from Woldgate College, Pocklington, who are in the final throes of fund-raising to go on a trip to Morocco this Easter. Also, he’ll be talking to the winner of the East Yorkshire pub of the year. In the Saturday Theatre slot after 12, Reform Theatre talk about “My Favourite Summer”, which they are bringing to the Pocklington Arts Centre a week on Tuesday, and we mark the end of an era as the old film projection equipment is switched off at the venue.

Join Tony Barker to hear from Icarus Theatre Company which brings Macbeth to Junction Goole this Saturday. Also, author Victoria Finnegan  from Glasgow is due to tell us why she is visiting the Jorvik Centre in York, and we look ahead to The Diary of Anne Frank, opening at the York Theatre Royal shortly.

The curtains open on Vixen 101′s Saturday Theatre at around midday when Tony Barker broadcasts live from Stamford Bridge. It’s the final day for the village’s pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, and we’ll hear from some of those taking part. Also on the show, Thomas Feeney, the new PR and Media Manager at York Theatre Royal, will talk about life after the pantomime at St Leonard’s Place as the production closes tonight. Caroline Horton opens the new ArtERY season at Beverley’s Longcroft School this week with her one-woman show – we hope to catch up with her on tour.
Also, we hope to speak to craftspeople from the area whose work will form an exhibition at Pocklington in the Spring.

Join Paul Atkinson (pictured)  and Pat Robinson for a new programme on East Yorkshire’s Vixen 101 this Sunday 29th January. Soul Shack brings two hours of northern soul and the sounds of Motown for a great Sunday night from 7-9pm.

This week, theatre reporter Tony Barker visits North Cave Village Hall to talk about the 26th annual production by the Cave Players. He’ll be there between 12 and 1 to hear about Puss in Boots, talk to new faces in the cast, and also celebrate the success of Holme Grown Players, who will launch their debut production, Cinderella, next Saturday.

Tony will also be meeting Peter Shipp from East Yorkshire Motor Services to talk about changes to bus services from 5th February.

Saturday Theatre
Join Tony Barker, our arts correspondent, as he embarks on a three-date panto tour. The uniquely British entertainment features heavily in the Western Wolds this month. He will be broadcasting from Shiptonthorpe Village Hall on the final day of Snow White and the Disco Dwarfettes, between 12 and 1.
Next week, the focus shifts to North Cave where the Cave Players will be preparing for two final performances of Puss in Boots and, the week after, Tony will be at Stamford Bridge for their production.
Congratulations, by the way, to the Holme Grown Players of Holme Upon Spalding Moor for selling out their debut panto production with two weeks to go.

Vixen 101 is bringing the party to the Pocklington Arts Centre on Saturday 17th December with a special programme and a fund-raising coffee morning. Join Julian Watson and Tony Barker from 9.30-1pm at the popular venue for special guests including the Chairman of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, local resident Cllr Kay West, plus live music from Pocklington singing starlet Katie Wood, and the winning entry from a festive short story competition run in conjunction with Simply Books in Pocklington. We’ll also be joined by various local,  well-known faces including the town Mayor.
If it’s a respite from Christmas shopping that you need, come and join our festive celebration and enjoy seasonal refreshments including a homemade raspberry and white chocolate cake! Vixen 101 will also be selling tickets for its Third Birthday Raffle, with a top prize of a mini-cruise with P&O Ferries.

Join Gary Newbould for this week’s news flagship programme which has a distinctly festive flavour. Gary will be looking back on the Christmas shopping and lights switch-on events in Pocklington and Market Weighton in the last week, and hearing from Pocklington’s organiser Ali Jenkins about future plans.

Local Police chief Sergeant Pete Rogers will be providing his regular update on the crime and community safety scene; estate agent and Rotarian Chris Clubley will be in the studio with his regular news on the housing market and local charity news, and the outcome of last week’s Selby Fatstock Market.

Artist Jan Jones will join Gary after 11.30 to talk about a sale by some of her students called Starving Artists, on Tuesday at Pocklington Youth Centre, Union Street.

SATURDAY: Vixen 101′s visit to theatreland in the East Riding (12.30pm) hears from Kate Bramley of Badapple Theatre about A Yorkshire Christmas Carol, which begins an East Yorkshire tour on Saturday in Sutton Upon Derwent.
Also hear a preview of Uganda’s Destiny Africa choir which is bringing its Rhythms of Life concert to the Pocklington Arts Centre this coming week.
